Save Granite Bay

This page is temporary.  The recalluhler.com site will be go on-line soon.  Below is background on the recall.

RECALL SUPERVISOR UHLER

Since being appointed 4th District Supervisor by the Board of Supervisors, Uhler has embarked on a destructive path. He is orchestrating an unnecessary Granite Bay Community Plan Update against our will that may greatly degrade our community for the single purpose of his earning campaign contributions from developers, all but one of which are from outside of District 4. This is called “Follow the Money.”

More recently we learned that the County General plan, and our Community Plan are to be adjusted to accommodate State law regarding placement of transitional housing in each District. This has been in the works for more than one year, yet our Supervisor breathed not a word of it to us. These zoning changes will affect several parts of our community, allowing the housing of pedophiles, felons and others. While this process must accommodate State law, there are options and flexibility in how it is carried out. We have been denied a role in that process.

Beyond the above, Uhler was involved in, and profited from, a highly questionable business deal between Solar Power Inc. (he was VP of Government Relations for that company) and the County. He was also the holder of 200,000 stock share options in that company at that time. You may also be aware of news reports that his wife was given a long-vacant County job at $92,000 per year during a County hiring freeze and a time when many County workers are forced to take unpaid furloughs. She was also given a 5% raise after just six months in this position while those furloughs continue.

We are preparing for a recall effort based on the above and are asking you to volunteer to gather petition signatures for that purpose. Support for this effort grown to pledges to collect over 2000 of the 7900 signatures required. If you want to volunteer, please send a quick e-mail letting us know how many signatures that you are willing to gather. This effort could include time spent going door to door or in local shopping areas.

When the recall was announced at the community meeting on February 11th, 2009, it was explained that this effort arose out of frustration with Supervisor Uhler repeatedly ignoring public input. At this time, more than one year later, nothing has changed. Supervisor Uhler has made some statements and commitments regarding the Community Plan Update in the press and at MAC meetings that would be encouraging if true. However, he has refused to reiterate those and has done nothing to bring them about. See a discussion of some of those here.

What can you do to help?

  1. Volunteer to gather signatures. Email your petition drive pledge today.

  2. Encourage your friends and neighbors to learn more about the Granite Bay Community Plan and the rapidly moving Update. Attend MAC meetings when the Update is being discussed. See other portions of this web site. Also the Granite Bay Community Association helped author and continues to defend the community plan.

  3. Email suggestions of other issues in District 4 that would increase support for the recall?
